Durst: track ink consumption and print costs

Durst ink consumption sits inside an industrial workflow that knows a lot and shares little. Durst builds large UV and water-based systems, plus flatbed printers for object printing. Job and consumption data run through its control and workflow system. That is a good source for costing, as long as you save the numbers for good. This is what Printometer sets out to do. The Durst is not connected yet, the integration is in preparation.

What the Durst knows about its costs - and what disappears

A Durst records ink consumption per job, the printed area and the media used. In UV and white modes the extra consumption is tracked separately. These are the numbers a solid calculation needs.

This data lives in the Durst workflow and control system, not permanently in the machine itself. If you do not save it, you slowly lose sight of the real history. For an analysis across weeks and months, a snapshot is not enough.

Track Durst ink consumption automatically

First things first. The Durst is not connected today. Printometer currently supports the Canon Colorado and the Epson SureColor live. For the Durst we plan the same path these machines already take.

Here is how it will work. A small program in your shop, the collector, pulls consumption data per machine on a fixed schedule from the Durst workflow and control system. The values gather in a cloud hosted in the EU and stay there for good, with no expiry date. A snapshot in the workflow becomes a complete history.

From consumption to costing

Measured consumption is one half, prices are the other. In Printometer you enter the ink price per litre and the material price per square metre, each with a valid-from date. From that the analysis works out the cost per job.

In the end you see reliable figures instead of guesswork. The real ink cost per square metre, the cost per job and the totals per material and machine. An image with high coverage or with white becomes visibly more expensive than a simple job, and your quote can reflect that cleanly.
